Entice by Curvy Kate

Again, a bra from Curvy Kate's A/W12 season, but I thought I'd out this review up in case anyone is thinking of getting one now it's at a lower price on Brastop, currently £14.50 for the bra, £9.95 for the thong and £10.95 for the short.

When I first saw the initial shots of the Entice set, I loved it. It ticked all the boxes of what I look for in lingerie. It's sexy, padded and comes in a great size range; 28-30 D-J, 32 D-HH, 34 D-H, 36 D-GG, 38 D-G.

While I was more than happy with the fit, it pains me to say that I was more than disappointed with the fabric. I was expecting a printed stretch satin, like that of the Thrill Me. Instead I got a kind of cheap polyester mix with the 'stripes' being a slightly bulky stitched-on trim. The shorts were mainly made up of a black stretch satin type fabric and weren't so bad.

I'd read that the Entice is based on the same shape as the Fleurty, so I ordered it in a 28HH, and the shorts in a 16 as normal. As with the Fleurty, the fit was spot on, so bear in mind you should go up one or two cup sizes but stick with your usual band size. Order the shorts in your usual Curvy Kate size and you should have a set that fits. Hopefully! I was particularly fond of the straps on the Entice. They're not your usual boring bra straps but they are much wider at the point they're attached to the bra, tapering off to a wide strap for greater support. This is only a small difference but one that sets the design apart from all the other bras in my drawer.

As much as I love how this set looks on, I found the fabric far too much of a reason not to keep it, so I've returned it. I'd love Curvy Kate to make this set in a stretch satin. Not only would it justify the (not discounted) price tag, hich in my opinion doesn't match the quality, it would also be much more wearable and less bulky under clothes.

The Entice is also available in Ivory/Gold which would make a beautiful bridal set. if you can live with the fabric. Here's the gorgeous Sophie Morgan modelling the set. Photo courtesy of Curvy Kate.

Ladies, would you rule out an otherwise perfect lingerie set due to fabric issues?

  1. I'm really sensitive to fabric issues. Granted, I probably wouldn't return an otherwise well-fitting bra simply because of how much shipping costs are from here! But I might try to resell it or wouldn't wear it as much.

I miss my Thrill Me's so much, sigh... they really need to make more (and expand the size range in them too!).

    1. I loved Thrill Me until I wore it one day, then I realised the shape wasn't great. my boobs looked really flat in it. I wonder if they will alter the structure and release it again in the future?

  2. No, I would not rule a set out due to fabric issues, but I wouldn't buy multiple sets in it either. Bear in mind that I'm addicted to lingerie and buy it for myself for many different reasons. I buy some for its looks, to model and show, and some for its feel, just to feel good in wearing and sleeping in, etc. etc.. The fit is always important to me, but more important for living in than for modeling. I visited the Brastop webpage for the Entice Plunge Bra Black/Gold by Curvy Kate. I didn't see a high-waisted version of the Entice Short like the one you're modeling which appears to have a higher rise and longer side seams than the pair I saw on the Brastop site. The Entice set looks so pretty on you I'd have to consider it just for the looks alone. The site does list the fabric as "90% Polyester, 10% Elastane" (Elastane is like Lycra) l but the closeness and style of the weave and thread size can make a big make a difference in the feel. I've never been sure what a panty feels like until I have it on mysellf, so I usually start with only one pair and then buy more if I like them a lot. I prefer the feel of a shiny nylon or satin to wear to bed at night. Silk feels nice during the day as do a number of other fabrics. I would not necessarily rule out the Entice set myself. Bulky ornamentation or panty lines never put me off. No wonder I have trouble finding room to stare all my lingerie.

    1. Hi PB! The shorts are the same as the ones on Brastop. Maybe they just look different on me? They're really nice, made up most mostly black stretch fabric. It's the gold coloured fabric that's the issue. You'll see what I mean if you buy some.

  3. That bra is probably one of those I am the most sad about being outsized by... And I love the bottoms too, so your post makes me sad, lol :b Because it looks so good on you!

I haven't found enough bras that fit we well, to making more criteria such as quality of fabric, and I generally don't mind "bulky" bras, so it probably wouldn't be an issue for me.

    1. Don't feel that you've missed out by being outsized. The fabric really is yuk!

As for bras that fit, Ewa Michalak and Comexim, both Polish companies should caer for your needs. Google them, they both have some gorgeous bras!

  4. I absolutely love the white version of this bra, but darn, the issue with the fabric annoys me. I don't own any CK lingerie (I need to invest in some, I know!!) but I just love them because they're such a great company and I thought that they made fantastic quality lingerie. I guess each company has its hits and misses, huh?

    1. I adore Curvy Kate and what they stand for and they do make quality lingerie. I've tried lots of their styles, so I was really surprised with the awful fabric of the Entice. If they ever change it I'll buy the set without a doubt.

  5. Thanks so much for the information! I like the design of this set but it's sad about the fabric. I'm fairly new to the Curvy Kate brand, I only have two bras from this brand, one with lovely fabric and one with fabric similar to what you describe in this review. (I reviewed the Portia not too long ago at my blog scarlets-letter.net) Really liking the pretty sets that they just released in their Spring/Summer line for this year though!

  6. I was really unhappy when the Entice came out, because black and gold stripes is something I've been wanting for years, and I'm completely sized out of the Showgirl line thanks to the shallow cups that require you to go up 1 or 2 sizes. So it actually makes me slightly happier to hear that this bra is not the one I've always dreamed of.
